Physical Examination

Keeping your pet in the best physical health begins with a complete physical examination.

With every visit to our hospital, our veterinary exam of your pet will include:

Medical History (please bring any previous records you may have)
Temperature and Body Condition Scoring
Ear and Eye Examination
Dental Examination with Recommendations
Cardiopulmonary (Heart and Lung) Examination
Gastrointestinal System Examination
Dermatological Examination
Musculoskeletal Evaluation
Examination of the Nervous System
Nutritional Counseling
Internal Parasite Detection Tests
Internal and External Parasite Control Recommendations
Vaccination Recommendations

Annual Wellness Exams

An integral part of our philosophy we emphasize preventative care. We recommend an annual physical examination as an excellent way to detect and diagnose potential problems early on before they become serious, as well as to maintain overall health.

As our pets are living longer lives, there are additional preventative measures we can take to preserve their health. A “senior” pet is defined as a dog or cat 7 years and older.

Based on the annual physical examination of a senior pet, our veterinarian may recommend the following additional tests:

Complete Blood Count panel - to evaluate the condition and number of white blood cells and red blood cells.
Blood Chemistry panel - to evaluate the function of various organs such as the liver, kidneys, pancreas, muscles and bones.
Thyroid Panel - to evaluate the function of the thyroid gland.
Urinalysis - to evaluate the function of the urinary system; used in conjunction with the Chemistry Blood Panel to assess kidney function.

Dr. Gueniat is trained in the latest techniques should your pet require a surgical procedure. Monrovia Animal Medical Center offers a full range of soft tissue surgeries from routine spays and neuters to more advanced procedures such as hip surgery. Our modern veterinary X-Ray equipment ensures your pet has minimal exposure to radiation, while providing us with the detailed imaging in order to evaluate your pet's condition and determine the best form of treatment. At Monrovia Animal Medical Center, you won't have to wait days for laboratory analysis. Our fully equipped veterinary laboratory allows us to perform advanced diagnostics such as electrolytes, blood chemistry, and CBC testing to help us determine the best treatment plan for your pet's medical condition. Immediate results can be shared to help you and your Veterinarian determine treatment options available for your pet's health care needs.

Pet Dentistry

We believe that proper dental care play an important part in your "best friend's" well being. Dental problems can lead to gingivitis and other dental conditions that can threaten your pet's health.

Dr. Gueniat performs in-house surgeries and dental procedures using state-of-the-art equipment and technology to ensure your pet receives the best veterinary dental care available.
